Carpenter Lake Cabins – Great all around fishing fun!

I couldn’t help it! I had to once again get out and get to one of my long time fishing spots. I used to go to Carpenter Lake when I was a kid with my best friend and camp out on the beach in a tent trailer. Times have changed since then but Carpenter Lake still holds some true fishing and camping fun.

I’ve been tenting out the last few years with my son and long time friend we decided to get a cabin and boy was I amazed at the cleanliness and how nice the cabins were. We were lucky enough to land the “Loon Haunt” which is a very nice cabin right on the waterfront. Full kitchen accommodations, dining with 3 bedrooms. They just added the 3rd bedroom, and I will say “what a very nice room it is”! This certainly makes the Loon Haunt a favorite.

I will have more details soon to update this post with more

Relax and “Double up” your ice-fishing fun

ICE FISHING QUICK TIP:

Ice fishing is all about jigging, jigging, jigging, all day long, if you are going to have any real chance at getting some fish. If there was only a way to get your fishing lure or your bait to do the work? Well there is! Just relax and “double up” your fishing fun!

Pick out one or a few of your favourite fishing spoons out of your tackle box, it doesn’t matter if they are for casting or jigging. Now select a couple of healthy minnows (they should be of the same species) from your bait bucket and hook each one through the tail on to seperate prongs of the treble hook. Make sure the fishing spoon you select is light enough that the two minnows hooked on to it can swim about freely.

Then, just drop the minnows down the hole and let them do their magic! They will swim erratically in different directions trying to get free, and will give your fishing spoon the movement it needs to attract the fish in! I mean it! With two good lively minnows, you can literally sit back and relax, and let the minnows do your fishing for you!

Don’t forget your Ice Fishing Spud
