Late Night St. Mary’s River Walleye Fishing

Seems that the late night walleye fishing is heating up in Sault Ste Marie on the St. Mary’s river.

Best times seem to be after dusk into late night until midnight and early morning as early as 5am.

Great thing about fishing the St. mary’s river in Sault Ste Marie is that it’s right in the cities downtown shopping area.

Behind the Station Mall is the St. Mary’s river ready for the grabbin! The St. Mary’s River is north america’s most amazing fishing grouds.

Best lure setup are bright colored spoons or crankbait  or rapalas with an added rubber worm or minnow.

Black jigs may work also with worms.

I’ll try and get some pictures to help make it happen.

Bass Fishing In Northern Ontario

Well it has been awhile since I’ve actually gone Bass Fishing, but I’m gearing up for at least a day trip very soon. I, like most bass fisherman would normally mount up alot of rubber baits, but this time I think I might take along some trusted buzz baits and worms.

I’ve always had great times bass fishing and normally if you can find one you’ll find a bunch of them. A few years back we had great luck at Carpenter Lake along with some pike.

Smallmouth bass are plentiful this time a year so gear up and get out bass fishing!

Clean Jig Eyes

Most jigs you buy these days are painted by dipping the entire head into a colored paint and then its let stand to dry. The problem with this is that the eye of the jig itself won’t allow your monofilament line to pass through it.

I have in the past just used another hook to clean out the jig eye but you may still not get all the paint off as needed for a tight line to be tied.

More Walleye With A Stinger Hook

Walleye will often nip at a jig or lure with a minnow on it without really taking the prized bite for you to land them. This has always been a difficulty with walleye because they often mouth the bait rather than making a hard bite on your bait.

I have over the last number of years made my own stinger hooks with a regular single lined nelled hook. I tie the snelled hook onto the curved portion of the jig so that I can hook the tail portion of the minnow or just let it freely dangle off your jig or lure. By using a stinger hook you will certainly have a better chance of setting the hook on that monster walleye.

Take On Walleye in Stealth Mode

When your out on a Northern Ontario lake remember that the sound of your outboard or the humm of an electric motor or the clunk of the anchor of an anchor can really limit the walleye catch for the day, especially when your close to shore.

If you have known good spot where lunker walleye are found try this…
