Chippewa River Ontario
Chippewa River is located just South of Batchewana Bay and about 40 minutes or 55km North of Sault Ste Marie in Ontario. This amazing river is visible from highway 17 and when the river is raging in the spring after the run off, you will see the power of mother nature at work.
The Chippewa Falls is approximate the half way point of the Trans-Canada Highway. This main highway which runs between St John’s in Newfoundland and Victoria in British Columbia is approxiately 7,822 kilometre or 4,860 miles long.
The falls can easily be viewed from the highway and there is a small picnic area overlooking the river. When your actually there, you get a chance to visit the hiking trails that lead into the forest along the river. Bring your camera because there’s some great pictures to be taken.
This also is an important stopping point for many fishermen because of its ease of access. Fishing is most exciting in the spring with Rainbow Trout being the catch of the day. If you bring the right fishing gear you’ll have a good chance of landing one.
Chippewa River is an amazing natural attraction. It offers plentiful resources and the chance to be in “the middle of the Trans Canada Highway with a view.” A nice stopping point with your family when your planning that trip. Hotel and Motel accomodations and plentiful.
If your planning on fishing, please remember that you can also check out Jones Creek, Harmony River, Stokely Creek, Montreal and Chippewa River which are all closely accessible from Hwy. 17.
A day trip from Sault Ste Marie to Wawa normally brings many amazing natural attractions.
