Clean Jig Eyes
Most jigs you buy these days are painted by dipping the entire head into a colored paint and then its let stand to dry. The problem with this is that the eye of the jig itself won’t allow your monofilament line to pass through it.
I have in the past just used another hook to clean out the jig eye but you may still not get all the paint off as needed for a tight line to be tied.
TIP: Use a small knife with a sharp point and insert it into the jig eye. Give the knife a good turn removing the paint from the eye. Usually all the paint will chip away from the eye by doing this.
TIP: Another option is to buy a the infamous Jig Eye Cleaner tool which works really well too.
Once you have all your jig eyes cleaned, try adding a stinger hook and you’ll see some big walleye being landed in the boat.
