There are many different ways to lure in a good walleye but one that holds true in alot of different Northern Ontario lakes is using the elusive leech as bait.
In early season when your using leeches, you might find your leeches will ball-up since water temperatures are always much colder this time of year. Even in the summer you’ll find this may happen and you’ll be frustrated because walley don’t like balled up leeches much.

Most walleye fisherman know that fish will feed in the shallows in springtime because the water near shore obviously is warmer then the water in the main body of the lake. Northern Ontario lakes hold the same rules, so listen up.

Another May long weekend walleye fishing season opener is upon us. So let’s get our fishing gear in order and get out and enjoy the weekend. On May 22 we can work the jigs, troll the shallows with worm harnesses and try and tapp out the monster walleyes.
Walleye represents a true Northern Ontario delicacy with anglers because they are such a great prize when you catch one, plus they are tenacious and a fish that is not easily caught. This is what makes them a unique catch in my eyes.

Ok, so the new ice fishing season is about to start and so I’m trying to get my close friends to get into the swing of things come the new year of 2010. If anything maybe we could start a new season off like the 2010 Olympics and have a Olympic Ice Fishing Derby of sorts!
Isn’t ice fishing like the olympics anyways? You tend to put a lot of time when your young learning all the basics and as time goes on you develop your skills, learn where all the hot fishing spots are and ultimately hopefully catch that trophy fish.
And so the story goes on about how this years 2010 Winter Olympics may somehow mimic ice fishing in Northern Ontario.

If your any bit of a fisherman you’ll always love the excitement of getting out onto the ice to take on some fishing in the winter.
Get your auger, tackle and live bait and get out. In Northern Ontario there are a lot of pristine fishing hotspots to tantilize your fishing senses.
Many lakes around where I live we just pack up the truck and walk out from shore and get in some fishing action. Lake like Ottertail, Rock Lake, Desberats Lake to name a few have always been the favourites.
