Pink Salmon in the St. Mary’s River

I took my son out fishing last weekend and we caught a couple pinks. The action was hot with many schools coming to the surface for some additional fun and excitement.

We were using a combination of Buzz Bombers, tasmanian devil lures and pixies. All were in the heavier weight category since there is a lot of current off the pier we were fishing from.

Colors varied from bleu/gold, chatreuse to pink. Red also seemed to be a great choice.
In the 2 1/2 hours we were there my son and I counted 48 fish caught. Most were released which is a great thing when thinking of the conservation aspect of the fishery.

We were fishing behind our Station Mall in my home town of Sault Ste Marie which is really cool considering the St. Mary’s river is right downtown. Great time, great spot, great fishing!

Take care and take care of our fishing.
