Pink Salmon on St Mary’s River
Nice day fishing on St Mary’s with many people out enjoying a great day. The morning was a cloudy, foggy morning that eventually turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. I headed out with my son to go fishing for Pink Salmon and we had caught one Pink and seen many other types of fish as well.
We started out the morning grabbing a good breakfast and some snackfood for the day. We then made our way down to the St Mary’s River to start our day.

We ended up starting out with 4oz buzz bombs which were a little too heavy and ended up losing a couple in only a few hours.
Then we went and brought out Tazmanian Devil Lures. Within an hour I has a female Pink Salmon on the line and brough it in.
There was some other action around us but for the most part it wasn’t the busiest of fishing days.
Across the river we noticed a fisherman bringing in what seemed to be a fairly large fish and so we headed over and we ended up seeing a 14lb Chinook Salmon. Nice fishing, nice day on the St Mary’s River.
Talking with a few other fishermen everyone seemed to be wondering why the action was so slow. Maybe the change in weather conditions through the summer compared to normal summer months or that the fish weren’t feeding much today.
In any case, we caught some diner and I can’t wait to head out again.
There’s some great fishing on the St Mary’s River so get out and enjoy!
